MotoPlanner.com Privacy Policy

Last updated: 08/07/2026

This policy describes how MotoPlanner.com ("we", "MotoPlanner") collects, uses, and protects personal data through the website and the mobile applications for iOS and Android (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services you accept the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal data only when you provide it voluntarily or when it is necessary to operate the Services, including:

  • Account data: username, email address, and password (stored in encrypted form), for registration, sign-in, and managing the PLUS Subscription.
  • Content you create: routes, stops, GPX tracks, points of interest, photos, comments/reviews, and saved places.
  • Location data: precise device location, collected only with your consent and while you use the app, to show you on the map, compute routes from your position, and provide turn-by-turn navigation.
  • Photos and media: images you choose to upload from your gallery (point-of-interest photos and your profile picture). We only access the photos you select.
  • Purchase and subscription data: information about the PLUS Subscription handled through the app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) and RevenueCat, or through PayPal on the website. We do not store full payment card details.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, device identifiers and model, operating system, logs and diagnostics, for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics.

2. Use of Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Provide the Services, including route planning, navigation, and content synchronization.
  • Manage user accounts, registration, and the PLUS Subscription.
  • Compute itineraries and directions based on the location you provide.
  • Publish and moderate contributions (photos, points of interest, itineraries) and credit them to their author.
  • Personalize the user experience and improve the service.
  • Communicate updates, changes, or important security notices.
  • Send marketing communications only with your explicit consent.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse and ensure the security of the Services.

3. Mobile App Permissions

The mobile apps request the following device permissions, which can always be revoked in your operating system settings:

  • Location (while using the app): to show you on the map, compute routes from your position, and provide navigation. We do not collect location in the background for advertising purposes.
  • Photos/Gallery: to let you select and upload point-of-interest images and your profile picture. We only access the items you select.

4. Location Data

Location data is collected only when you grant permission and while you are using the app. The coordinates required for route calculation, geocoding, and map display are transmitted to our map provider (Mapbox) to process your request. We do not sell location data and do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.

5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for third-party advertising. We may share it only in the following cases:

  • To process payments and subscriptions through trusted providers (Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, PayPal).
  • With service providers needed to operate the Services (e.g., maps and routing), listed below.
  • When required by law or competent authorities.
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of users and the Services.

We rely on the following third-party providers, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Mapbox — maps, routing, and geocoding (receives the coordinates needed for your request).
  • Thunderforest — additional map tiles.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — app distribution and in-app purchases.
  • RevenueCat — management and verification of in-app subscriptions.
  • PayPal — payments made through the website.
  • DeepL — machine translation of some texts (e.g., itinerary descriptions).

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The MotoPlanner.com website uses technical, analytics, and functional cookies to improve the service; you can manage cookie preferences in your browser. The mobile apps do not use advertising cookies or cross-app tracking technologies: we do not show third-party advertising and do not request tracking for advertising purposes (App Tracking Transparency on iOS).

7. Data Retention

We retain data as long as needed to deliver the Services or comply with legal obligations. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymized; you may also request deletion at any time.

8. Data Security

We apply technical and organizational safeguards to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, or alteration (including password hashing and secure connections). No system is infallible, so please share sensitive information cautiously.

9. Account and Data Deletion

You can request the deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time, including uploaded content. You can do this from the account settings in the app, where available, or by contacting us through the Contact page. We will act on the request within 30 days, except for data we must retain for legal obligations (e.g., purchase records). Contributions made public and stripped of personal references (e.g., anonymized tracks or points of interest) may be retained.

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and other applicable regulations, you may request to:

  • Access, update, or correct your personal data.
  • Delete your personal data and your account.
  • Receive your data in a portable format and, where feasible, transfer it.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent for specific purposes (e.g., marketing) at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

To exercise your rights or for questions, contact us.

11. International Data Transfers

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In such cases we apply appropriate safeguards (for example, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure a level of protection consistent with the GDPR.

12. Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be published on the Site and, for material changes, we may also notify you in the app. Continued use of the Services implies acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Data Controller and Contact

The data controller is MotoPlanner.com. To exercise your rights, request account deletion, or for any privacy question, contact us.
